Photography Competition "Romance"
Since 14 February 2019 the thyssenkrupp test tower in Rottweil has been lit up every evening after dark, acting as a beacon of bright light in the night sky. We invited all its fans to take pictures of the illuminated test tower and send us their favourite photo in an attempt to win a romantic candlelit dinner on Germany's highest viewing platform. The candlelit dinner was held on the evening of Sunday 14 April 2019 after the tower had closed for the day. The winners received a guided tour of the test tower beforehand. The competition ran until 1 March 2019, with the visiting public asked to choose their favourite from the 12 images selected by our jury on 16 March. The winners were then notified by e-mail.
Thank you for over 40 romantic entries
We were very impressed with your photography skills! Over the two weeks of the competition, we received more than 40 brilliant pictures. They were taken from a wide variety of angles and perspectives, and complemented their main subject with some painstakingly captured details. The end result was an album of unique images that got us really excited.
The final 12 pictures
Our jury, made up of photographers, engineers, test tower staff and members of our corporate communications team, debated the entries long and hard. We really enjoyed selecting the shortlist, not least because we had the luxury of choosing between so many outstanding and unusual images.
Congratulations to the 4 winners
Visitors to Germany’s highest viewing platform had a day to vote for their favourite short-listed picture before we notified the winners. Our jury selected a fourth winning photograph alongside the three pictures chosen by the public. Congratulations to our winners! We hope you enjoyed your special candlelit dinner and the exclusive tour, shared with the first couple to get married at the test tower.

Many thanks for a wonderful evening
P.S. Alongside our competition to capture the romance of the test tower, on 14 February we asked the people of Rottweil to send us their own special greetings by placing lights in their windows. They were also invited to send us pictures of the lights, although these photos were not considered as part of the competition.
Rottweil says hello to the test tower
We were really pleased to see how many people chose to mark the illumination of the test tower on Valentine's Day and sent their greetings in the form of heart-shaped balloons, tower lights and various other clever ideas. The fact that all Rottweil's towers were also lit up was the perfect finishing touch to the town's romantic look. Here you can see a few pictures from the photography team alongside your submissions.
