Technologies for the cities of tomorrow
The new 246-metre-high elevator test tower is specially configured for the elevator technology of tomorrow: in the twelve shafts within the tower, which has a diameter of 21 metres, the engineers can test elevators at dizzying speeds of up to 18 m/s. With this tower, Rottweil becomes the centre for the future of vertical passenger transportation.
Three shafts with a height of 100 metres are specially earmarked for the testing of innovative TWIN and MULTI systems. With the MULTI elevator, the dream of simultaneously transporting several elevator cars is coming to life: the technology of magnetic levitation systems is entering the elevator sector, increasing handling capacity by up to 50% and significantly reducing the space required in buildings.

A new era of vertical (and horizontal) passenger transportation optimises efficiency and enables architects to build in more creative ways, at greater heights and design more user-friendly systems. With a number of elevator cars in a single shaft, users would not have to wait longer than 15 to 30 seconds for an elevator.
